In a very close vote, the House passed the redesigned Farm Bill. It includes major changes to the SNAP (food stamps) program, anti-environmental provisions and support for Big Ag over our farmers.
The Senate is working on a bi-partisan version, which does not include the SNAP changes and better represents our environment. Let’s tell our senators to deliver a “clean” farm bill in support of the Farmers Union and continue to leave changes to SNAP out of their version so as to not put an even bigger burden on our most vulnerable.
With all that is going on let’s make sure our Senators hear our concerns on the Farm Bill.

I’m calling today to tell Senator [Gillibrand/Schumer] to urge them to support an environmentally clean Farm Bill that does not include the SNAP changes from the House bill. I ask Senator [___] to resist amendments that would weaken the SNAP anti-hunger program, contaminate our food and drinking water supplies with pesticides, roll back protections for endangered wildlife, or log away our national forests.
