On Saturday, March 24th the students, and their supporters showed up in cities across the nation to bring their message to the people and to the politicians. The students protesters will keep Republicans on the Defense for midterm elections. “Thoughts and Prayers” without action is not enough, we see your voting record – we will vote you out!
Call John Faso and tell him to reject the NRA’s wish list and support the students with Common Sense Gun Legislation
CALL SCRIPT (reject the NRA’s wish list)Caller: Hello! My name is [name] and I’m calling from [town, zip].
I’m really disappointed that Rep Faso voted in favor of H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This is the NRA’s top legislative priority and will create a race to the bottom in gun safety standards. I ask that Rep Faso explains to his constituents why he sided with the NRA instead of our lives?
Will Rep Faso commit to voting against any further bills that would weaken current gun safety laws?CALL SCRIPT (support the students)
Caller: Hello! My name is [name] and I’m calling from [town, zip].
I’m calling in support of the young people leading the “Marches for Our Lives” marches across the nation and urge Rep Faso (or other NYS Representatives) to work to immediately pass commonsense gun legislation, including [choose from]:
- Closing the loophole that lets people buy guns at shows and through private sellers without background checks
- Instituting universal background checks for ammo and gun buyers, a measure 80% of gun owners support
- Funding evidence-based community antiviolence programs, like Ceasefire, which have been shown to reduce shootings
- Reinstating a federal ban on the purchase of high-capacity magazines and military-style assault weapons, which is supported by at least 65% of Americans.
Now is the time to act on gun reform. Thank you for your time and attention.
