Clean water is fundamental to our survival and well-being. Since 1972, the Clean Water Act has protected headwaters, wetlands, small streams and other waterways. The 19th Congressional District includes four major watersheds: the Ashokan Reservoir watershed, the Delaware River  watershed, the Susquehanna watershed and the Hudson River watershed. Together, these watersheds supply water to millions of citizens in our region.

Protecting these and other sources of clean water within our district should be a prime concern of our elected representatives, especially Congressman Marc Molinaro.

Instead on March 9th, Rep, Molinaro, along with 217 House Republicans voted “yes” for H.J.Res.27, which in essence, narrows the definition of which waterways fall under the scope of the Clean Water Act and are protected under federal jurisdiction. H.R.Res27 reverts back to  the weaker and more permissive guidelines issued under the Trump administration. More info here.

I’m calling to express my deep concern over your March 9, 2023 vote to overturn the Biden administration’s protections for clean water. These protections for thousands of small streams, wetlands and other waterways are critical to insure access to clean water now and for the future. Within our Congressional district four major watersheds, the Ashokan Reservoir watershed, the Delaware watershed, the Susquehanna watershed and the Hudson River watershed, supply water to millions of citizens.  Your vote has put these and other sources of clean water at risk to polluters. As a concerned voter, I want you to fight to protect our clean water!
