My tax complaint has always been that I don’t see the connection between what leaves my pocket and improvements in the life I live. But now, after just 2½ years with Biden in the White House, the streets I travel in my town are smooth and beautified.
Many of my friends have enjoyed a higher minimum wage, cheaper diabetes drugs, better veteran care, and new small businesses. I won’t be seeing junk fees for tickets and other purchases on my credit card. I can count on a glass of tap water free of PFAS and lead as tax dollars are invested in massive infrastructure projects. Bringing semiconductor manufacturing from Asia to New York State means I won’t have to wait three months to get my car fixed. Plus, I’m Iooking forward to a deep breath of clean air and a calming climate as batteries replace gas tanks, and wind and sun replace fossil fuels.
What a great (and democratic) idea to direct tax benefits to the long-suffering 99% of American taxpayers, and improve their daily lives. This is the connection between me and my taxes I’ve been waiting for. This is Bidenomics.
Good riddance Reaganomics, still loved by the GOP, gushing out tax dollars and tax breaks to billionaires, “trickling down” to the rest of us, stagnating wages, and widening income disparity for the past 40 years.
