Background:
One year ago, SCOTUS reversed Roe v. Wade, tearing away at our reproductive freedoms. Then just last week, GOP conference chair and New York’s own Rep. Elise Stefanik indicated that House Republicans intend to move forward with legislation to codify a 15-week federal abortion ban. Further, House Republicans are urging a vote on H.R. 7 to re-establish and make permanent the Hyde Amendment, which would rip away private health insurance coverage for abortions. This bill would also prevent the VA from providing reproductive health care to veterans.
This week, House Democrats introduced a discharge petition to force a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would strengthen reproductive freedom and establish a federal statutory right to abortion care (codifying Roe). The petition needs 218 signatures to reach the House floor.
If you are in NY19, it is essential that we continue to hold Rep, Molinaro accountable for his willingness to side with the most extreme GOP factions. Will he keep his promises to protect abortion access in New York — rather than siding with the MAGA wing of his party?

I’m calling to urge Congressman Molinaro to keep his promises to protect abortion access in New York: First, by signing on to the House Democrats’ discharge petition which would force a vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act. Second, I urge him to announce that he will NOT support the House Republican proposal to codify a 15-week federal abortion ban, and NOT vote for H.R. 7 [which would to re-establish and make permanent the Hyde Amendment, ripping away private health insurance coverage for abortions]. Lastly, I urge him to co-sponsor Rep. Pat Ryan’s bill, the Protecting Reproductive Freedom Act, which would guarantee women’s access to safe and legal medications prescribed by their doctors.
