In Chuck Schumer, Health Care, Kirsten Gillibrand, Pat Ryan

BACKGROUND

The incoming Trump administration has promised healthcare deregulation and spending cuts. While there are many ways they can enact their goals, the administration has put forth policies that would decimate the ACA, resulting in millions of Americans being kicked off their plans, skyrocketing costs, and the likely loss of guaranteed essential plans like pre-existing conditions protections and free preventive care services. Cuts to Medicaid would result in fewer individuals who qualify for Medicaid, namely, our most vulnerable populations: individuals with low income, seniors and people with disabilities. The Trump administration has floated policies to defund Medicare. Many close to the incoming President are championing a transition from Medicare to Medicare Advantage. The NYS legislature has a responsibility to protect healthcare for every New Yorker and to control costs. They can do that by passing the New York Health Act.

Call Senator Oberacker (SD51): 518-455-3131 (Albany office)

Hello, This is [name] calling from [town, zip code].

I am calling Senator Oberacker today because I am extremely concerned about my healthcare and the changes I am hearing from the incoming Presidential administration.

I can barely afford my healthcare now. The changes the new presidential administration is proposing would make it unaffordable for my family and me. I am calling today to ask the Senator to become  a co-sponsor of the New York Health Act. It is the only bill in the NYS legislature that can protect us from losing our benefits and skyrocketing rates. I hope to hear back from the Senator about this important topic.

Call Senator Schumer:  (202) 224-6542

Hello, This is [name] calling from [town, zip code].

The tragic and horrific shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, as well as the public’s mostly positive reaction to it reveals that the American public is hurting, angry and fed up with its exploitation by health care insurers.

I am calling to ask Senator Schumer to co-sponsor and support S. 1655 The Medicare For All Act. There is no better time than now to reintroduce some form of single payer healthcare to fix our utterly broken healthcare insurance system.

The time for change has come. We can do this if Congress has the will. It must. Because we, the people, surely do. Thank you
