 I am deeply alarmed by the DOJ’s filing of assault charges against Representative LaMonica McIver. Representative McIver was fulfilling her congressional duty by inspecting an ICE detention center in her NJ district, when Mayor Baraka was wrongfully arrested. These charges are unwarranted, and are an attempt to intimidate Congressmembers from carrying out their responsibilities. I urge my Congressmember to publicly condemn this act and demand that all charges be dropped.

I also want to thank my congressmember for continuing to vote with the Democratic caucus against HR1.  Keeping a united front is essential in such divisive times.
