A Civics Class For All – Starr Library
What’s Government got to do with it? Join us for a Civics Class for All, Part 1 – Local Government, on Wednesday, May 2nd at 6:30pm at the Starr Library in Rhinebeck.
What do comptrollers do? What’s home rule? Why would someone join a village board? These are just a few of the basic questions about our government that—for most of us—get met with blank stares. “What’s Gov Got To Do With It” will fill in these blanks and more. Part civics primer, part storytelling, this series will get you motivated and equipped to be more engaged in your community.
Over the first three Wednesday evenings in May 2018, this series will explain how our government works and why we should care. Each presenter is paired with a guest sharing a relevant case study. Attendees will also get a chance to workshop a skill critical to active participation in our government.
Each session will explore a different level of government.
