Lou Allstadt will be giving an updated version of his talk on the carbon tax and dividend approach to reducing fossil fuel emissions one week from today, on 3 May in Cooperstown (details below).

Some form of a carbon tax may be our last hope to deal preventatively with climate change. There is no Plan B. Lobbying for it is a concrete action local citizens can take. If you want to get behind this important initiative, here’s your chance to learn more. Also participating will be Iona Lutey, the Northeast Regional Coordinator of the Citizens Climate Lobby, a principal sponsor of the carbon tax and dividend. Ms. Lutey was instrumental in persuading former Congressman Chris Gibson to raise climate issues in Congress.

PRESS RELEASE/PRESS RELEASE/PRESS RELEASE Cooperstown, NY–Lou Allstadt, former executive Vice-President of Mobil Oil and current Trustee of the Village of Cooperstown, will speak on the urgent need to confront the challenge of climate change by adopting a national carbon tax and dividend policy. His talk, entitled “US Energy Transition: The Plight of Fossil Fuels and the Rise of Renewables,” will be given at 7 pm on Wednesday, 3 May, at Templeton Hall, 63 Pioneer Street, Cooperstown, NY. The event is free and open to the public. Mr. Allstadt was recently instrumental is getting the Village of Cooperstown to divest its fossil fuels assets. He also played a major role in the successful struggle against fracking for natural gas in New York State.
