Guest speaker: Kay Tillow was born in Paducah, Kentucky and worked in the Southern civil rights movement in the 60s. She spent her early career working for health care and nurses’ unions on organizing and collective bargaining and was responsible for organizing over 600 unions to endorse H.R. 676, John Conyer’s Medicare for All Act. Currently, she is the chair of Kentuckians for Single Payer Healthcare and Coordinator of the All Unions Committee for Single Payer Health Care. She is on the National Single Payer steering committee.
Guest speaker: Dr. Claire Cohen is an African American child and adolescent psychiatrist. Since 1984, she has practiced in community mental health clinics, partial hospitals, school-based settings and, currently, an inpatient hospital setting. Dr. Cohen is active in efforts to stop the school-to-prison pipeline in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, is a founding member of the Pittsburgh Green New Deal, on the advisory board of the Pittsburgh Black Workers Center, a member of the Medicare 4 All Committee of DSA, and a steering committee member of the Western PA Coalition for Single Payer Healthcare and National Single Payer.
