Please join us on Saturday, March 12 at noon, for International Women’s Day, a day of solidarity for working women celebrated all over the world. We will gather at 12 noon, socially distanced and masked, in front of Elting Library, at 93 Main Street in New Paltz, and march to Water Street Market at the western end of town, and back to the library.
Women’s lives are under attack. The pandemic has hit women hard, especially poor women and women of color. We won’t forget those who cared for the sick without protective equipment, who worked without hazard pay, without family leave, without child care. On March 12 we will march for those who lost their jobs, lost their health care, lost their lives.
Women’s lives are under attack. Texas has outlawed most abortions, and other states are not far behind. Congress must pass the Women’s Health Protection Plan, which will enshrine federal protections to those seeking accessible abortion care as well as to the healthcare professionals providing abortion services.
We call for an end to violence against women and all vulnerable and marginalized members of our society. We march for equity in the workplace, and full equality and respect for all. We stand against racism, sexism, anti-LGBTQ bigotry, and threats and discrimination against immigrants. We oppose war, which decimates families and communities, deprives whole generations of a future, and will ultimately destroy the planet.
On March 12, we will march for reproductive justice, for the right to make our own decisions about whether or not to have children. We will march for access to abortion, prenatal care, children’s health, maternal survival.
