Venue: Lifebridge Sanctuary in Rosendale, NY.
Messages: To the greater Hudson Valley community,
>
> My name is Mark Chan and I am a graduate vocalist in the Vocal Arts Program at The Bard Conservatory of Music. Three of my colleagues and I are currently putting together a recital of vocal music that celebrates the legacy and contributions of immigrants in America, an especially topical program given the national discussion that surrounds immigration. Our recital is set for Wednesday, November 8th at 7pm at the Lifebridge Sanctuary in Rosendale, NY.
>
> As you are located in the Hudson Valley and active in the immigrant community, we thought your organization would be interested in attending this event. The music for this recital will be entirely crafted of works by immigrant composers and poets including Irving Berlin, Kurt Weill, and Igor Stravinsky.
>
> We are also hoping to include personal stories from immigrant members of this particular community. We know that the Hudson Valley has a vibrant immigrant community, and our hope for this recital is to include as many personal accounts as possible.
>
> In order to achieve our goal, we\’re looking for written submissions from the immigrant community. These submissions should be no more than 1000 words, and can detail any part of your immigrant experience; anything you feel like sharing or discussing is exactly what we\’re looking for. Some possible topics include:
>
> 1) What does immigration mean to you?
> 2) When and why did you decide to come to America?
> 3) Has your life in America been what you\’ve expected? How has it been different?
>
> Our wish for this program is to have our audience gain a deeper appreciation of the important contributions made by immigrants to American culture. If you or someone you know is interested in submitting a written account, please send submissions to whatweremadeof17@gmail.com by Wednesday, November 1.
>
> If you\’re unable to send a written submission, we hope you will still attend our recital, which is free and open to the public. Please be sure to check out https://whatweremadeof.wixsite.com/whatweremadeof for recital details.
>
> Thank you so much for reading and considering. We hope to hear from you soon.
>
> Warmest wishes,
>
