Donald Trump promised to lower costs on day one.
But what did Trump and the GOP actually cost you in 2025?
If you’re a member of a working- or middle-class family in NY-18, due to tariffs and the so-called Big Beautiful Bill (federal spending bill), you spent an average of $1,950 more last year!
Your family also paid more for basic needs: an additional $433 more for housing, $178 more for transportation, and $199 more for electricity.
The average family of four also spent $1,112 for one month of groceries.
And last year, 21,062 New Yorkers filed for bankruptcy–an 8.5% increase over 2024.
And what will Trump and the GOP cost you in 2026?
If you live in NY-18:
You might be one of the 22,000 people who are seeing their health care costs rise because of Republicans’ decision to end enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits.
That same decision, as well as Republicans’ new red tape, means that you might be one of the 2,700 people who will actually lose access to health coverage.
You might even be one of the 37,256 people who will lose access to health coverage due to cuts to Medicaid.
And, no matter where you live, if you receive Medicare, you should know that the GOP’s 2025 tax cuts to billionaires* added roughly $4.7 trillion to the deficit which will trigger a $45 billion cut to Medicare in 2026, and a total of $536 billion in cuts to Medicare over the next decade (the result of an end-of-year sequester under the statutory Pay-as-You-Go Act).
What can you do?
