Prior to Republican redistricting, the path to securing a Democratic majority has increased from flipping 3-4 seats to up to 24 seats. For Ulster County, this means aggressively defending NY19 and NY18, and supporting down ballot races in both.

Republicans currently hold a 53-47 majority. To win Senate control, Dems must:

• Hold vulnerable seats in Georgia, Michigan, and New Hampshire, AND
• Win 4 flippable states:  Ohio, North Carolina, Maine, and Alaska.

3. BUILDING OUR POWER IN THE NY STATE LEGISLATURE

New York, with its blue Trifecta, remains a pillar of resistance to the worst of Trump’s policies. Still, even with Dem majorities we need champions of policies like New York For All, the New York Health Act, and Climate Leadership. This year, we have a winnable race Senate District 51 which includes the western portions of Ulster County.

Indivisible national is focussing resources on these states that have flippable Federal seats as well as a Republican-controlled state legislature: Alaska, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas, and seeks in-state volunteers to support anti-voter suppression efforts there.
